GSA Philadelphia Access Control
2004-Present
XTec was contracted to provide GSA Region 3 (Greater Philadelphia)
with a modern LDAP-based Access Control System that is networked
based. Because IP is the most widely used open network architecture,
GSA Region 3’s security access control system was
implemented with a state-of-the-art open architecture whose
key network components are able to be purchased with off
–the-shelf-technology.
GSA Region 3’s Strawbrigdes
building access control installation team member provided
expertise in developing the installation approach, and in
installing the CAT 5 wiring, network switchers, and the
access control equipment. XTec provided the smart card technical
products and worked with UAS to provide oversight for the
installation of the access control system. XTec provided
project management for the customer, training, and support.
This plan provided for up-front planning with Government
involvement. Our experienced project management helped to
ensure a quality installation and success for both the Government
and the XTec Team. A master plan was finalized that addressed
how the readers, network systems such as switches and cabling,
and other equipment were installed. XTec was able to ensure
that security was maintained and disruptions were minimized.
XTec continues to engage with the GSA in implementing state
of the art Access Control Systems in their buildings nationwide.
The network based LDAP control system implemented in GSA’s
Strawbridges building provides self-synchronizing databases
to ensure all of them have identical information. The LDAP
structure lends itself very well to enterprise smart card
solutions and ensures interoperability between applications.
XTec has leveraged its knowledge and experience across several
Smart Card engagements to provide GSA with the finest personnel.
Our ability to coordinate delivery between the vendor and
the Government is the key to providing GSA high-quality
smart cards and access control support.
